Our Leathers
All of the leathers at Foolish are Top Grain, Vegetable Tanned, Aniline dyed bovine leathers from Horween, a tannery operating right here in Chicago for over 120 years. Family owned and operated since 1905, their goal has always been be to make the best leather.
Our inaugural collection provides a mix of colorways, tempers and weights, but each was selected for their incredible handfeel. Meant to patina over time, with intermittent conditioning our leather covers will last a lifetime.

When sourcing our elastics, we wanted not only a well constructed, durable option, but one that also felt more unique in their color hues.
Our current line up of elastics is offered in 12 jewel toned hues. All of complementary shades, we encourage you to mix your colors by offering individual selection for both binding elastics and your cover closure.
By design, binding elastics are 1.5mm in size. Slim enough to slip into your notebooks without adding bulk, but still sturdy. Cover closure elastics are 2.0mm. Strong and proportioned to hold your cover securely.

All our grommets are made from solid brass, ensuring a secure fit and longevity that complements our journals.
We offer two styles each in three different finishes. The Beveled design offers a more traditional feel, while the Flat works best for more modern tastes.
Choose Natural Brass for a bright gold finish, Antiqued Brass for a warm, neutral hue, or Nickel for a cool silver tone.

Our embossing options allow you to stamp your journal with your personal touch. Add a monogram, message, date, zodiac sign or any combination of them. We offer several foil options as well as two different text styles so you can maximize your creativity.
